Shady Rest Acres

Set upon twenty-three acres of protected woodlands and pastures, this historic site offers a unique glimpse into the past. Once a nineteenth-century brewery, the grounds still feature original foundation walls and a deep cave accessible only by canoe. Guests can wander through a diverse forest containing rare tree species or visit a hobby farm home to Scottish Highlander cows, miniature donkeys, and honey bees. This tranquil landscape, preserved by the Minnesota Land Trust, provides a romantic atmosphere where history meets nature, featuring a pond filled with large trout and a residence designed to mirror the original brew master's home.
